COLOURING
LONDON
Building CATEGORIES
What kinds of building make up London?
What are their size and shape? How are they made, and what of? Who built them and which are the most energy efficient? Where can you find different types? And which do you like most, and think should be reused, to make London more sustainable for the future?
Colouring London is collecting 12 types of information to help us answer these and many other questions about the city. Click on any box to find out more, or scroll down to view our detailed list.

SUBCATEGORIES
Within our 12 main categories we are collecting over 50 subcategories of information. These are shown below. If you'd like to help us just click on a building on our map, choose a category of interest (if ready for upload) on our map page and fill in an information you can. Every entry will help.
Below we have put a star by the easiest categories to fill in. 'Like Me?' for example just needs you to tick a box if you like the building. 'Age' and 'Demolitions' are probably the most difficult categories but perfect if you you're interested in historical research. Click any category to find out more.
During 2018/19 we will be releasing our 12 categories for testing in three
stages. Firstly Location, Age, Size & Like me? Then Use, Type, Shape
& Planning, and finally Construction, Energy, Greenery & Demolitions. Subcategories marked with an asterisk* are those for which we're planning to visualise collected data over the next year.
We need to keep our collection as efficient, effective and simple as possible but if there is high demand for a relevant additional subcategory we will try to include it. You can let us know here.
